So, week after week, month after month, andyear after year, we follow a repeated, consistent, faithful path. That path designs something intensely human. Something that gains collective momentum and enriches life like a beautiful canvas on a wall. Beauty and its shared experience which our Atelier simply calls, Performance.
MADE TO LAST OVER TIME
To celebrate this, we have turned our calendar into a layered canvas made to last over time.
Not just the annual collectible, but something that deserves to be permanently on display. Something that was born to be perceived in profoundly different ways, just as our cars.
PAINTINGS ON CANVAS
Consequently, for 2021, we have commissioned six canvases from three artists of the Argentinian school of painting; experts at capturing the spirit of vehicles of every age. José María Villafuerte, Jorge Ferreyra Basso and Alfredo De La María interpret performance according to Pagani by painting cars — alternately and sometimes simultaneously expressing shared passion, pure aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and tributes to Italy.
ALFREDO DE LA MARÍA
Impressionist brushstrokes in the manner of Crosby and Gotschke; light and reflections in a perfect Sorolla style: the automotive portraits of De La María, born in Uruguay in the mid-forties, are certainly one-of-a-kind.
Alfredo’s career started in his hometown, Montevideo, and took off internationally in Buenos Aires after a Parisian interlude. In the cultural fervor of these cities, the artist has grown and established himself as a top editorial illustrator.
His covers, created for the most prestigious automotive magazines, are exhibited worldwide — including at Pebble Beach, Retromóvil, Techno Classica Essen — and in some of the most revered European galleries.

ALFREDO DE LA MARÍA
“The Pagani calendar is a valued and recognized symbol in which you can appreciate the great work Horacio does on his cars, as well as the hard-organizational work of his team to be able to assemble the entire project.
It is a pleasure to participate in this project and a joy to paint these vehicles, sharing this experience with my great friend José María Villafuerte, with whom I have worked together for many years.
I think it is always positive and enriching to work with people who love cars and art as much as I do and who like to share it with others, so stay tuned"
JORGE FERREYRA BASSO
The automotive world has no secrets for the Argentine artist Ferreyra Basso, whose career has quickly traveled from impressionism to figurative expressionism.
A step away from completing his studies in Engineering, he became Chief Designer of General Motors Argentina; then, he moved to be one of the Chief Designers at the Opel Style Center in Germany.
Also, he worked at the General Motors Design Center in Detroit, in charge of Color&Trim and Seat Design for all divisions.
His managerial skills are reflected in his artistic flair: with mastery and firmness, he has shaped the emotions of racing across over sixty posters of automotive events of the caliber of Mille Miglia, revealing some of his best works. Appointed a Prominent Cultural Personality of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge still lives and paints in the capital, gazing at amazing sunsets from his amiable atelier.

“I was delighted to receive Horacio Pagani’s invitation to take part in the project for several reasons. The high regard and respect we each have for each other are of tremendous value to me. I admire Horacio’s enormous talent, his inventiveness and the effort he puts into every creation. These are the fabulous Hypercars that spark my immediate enthusiasm as I watch them materialize in my works in acrylic on canvas.
This is why - well aware of the quality and excellent aesthetic level of the already famous Pagani Calendars - I am so proud to contribute with my work to the 2021 edition.”
JOSÉ MARÍA VILLAFUERTE
Villafuerte’s artistic life has been marked by his cultural studies, his travels to Brazil, his passion for motorsport, and one, hugely influential, meeting in 1990 with Juan Manuel Fangio. Year by year, the mutual esteem which these two men held for one another grew into a friendship that eventually made José the official artist of the “Fangio Museum” in Balcarce, Argentina.
He has dedicated over sixty works of art to the driver and his extraordinary sports exploits; works which have become an artistic heritage for collections and museums worldwide. After a long career of exhibiting at Goodwood Revival, Retromobile, Modena Motor Gallery and Autoclásica, he now travels between Spain and Italy, further cultivating his art.

“I feel great pride and responsibility to have received the invitation from Mr. Horacio Pagani to participate with my art to his project and reflect the great builder and creator of dream cars.
When an artist like me has the opportunity to show in a painting the passion for motorsports as well as the creativity of such a great Argentine master, it becomes easy to represent the lines and volumes on canvas: the brush and the colors dance on it, following the harmony and performance of his cars.”
